Would you like to know more about our daily work? What beautiful objects we have recently restored or what exciting stories we have to tell about historical textiles? Then read on here! From time to time we write a short article on various topics related to restoration and historical textiles.
We decided to publish short articles on various topics to emphasise the significance of textile objects in a cultural, historic and artistic context. Even before the conservation treatment, a great deal of time has been invested in the production of each historic textile object and the following, often centuries-long history of care and repair of that textile.
Today, in the age of fast fashion, textiles are always available and easy to replace. In contrast, our ancestors knew how much work was behind each piece of clothing, because they often produced it themselves, from growing the fibres, such as linen or wool, to spinning the threads, weaving and sewing or knitting the clothes. We are convinced that it is necessary to re-learn this sustainable approach to textiles and would like to make a small contribution to this through giving different insights in our work.
As another way of getting to know our work you can take a tour of the workshop.
You will get an exclusive insight into the current projects and we will share our knowledge about historical textiles and their conservation. Please get in touch if you are interested.
